How to solve problems while being innovative

You face problems everyday and there are a lot of ways to solve problems. These are the best ways to be innovative while solving problems.

See things from a different perspective

There is always more than one way to look at a situation. When you are thinking of a new idea, try and think out of someone else’s perspective to see how the situation is impacting them and how it could be changed. The easiest way to do this is by just taking yourself out of a situation and seeing the situation from a third person view.

Question everything

If you stumble into a situation that is not working, question why it’s not working. Don’t just dive straight into conclusions and solutions and most importantly, don’t make assumptions. You should do some research to answer your questions and think a little different than everyone else. Elon Musk stated that when he faces a big problem, he spends 55 minutes thinking about the problem and 5 minutes to think of a solution.

Think in quantity

Rather than thinking about quality, start thinking in quantity. This allows your brain to think in different directions and different solutions. In most cases, two ideas combine to solve the problem by creating a whole new idea. While doing this, think of the smaller components of the situation as well.

Think hypothetical

Create situations in your head and think of the ways they can play out. even if it sounds like it could never work, just think it through. you can think wide without any boundaries. This will stimulate new ideas and the creativity will flow and the solution will present itself.

Think together

If you are discussing this problem with the rest of your colleagues, different ideas are brought up out of different perspectives. This will stimulate different ideas that can maybe come together to solve the problem. Don’t be afraid to say any of your solutions as anything can be used in some form or another.

Let your creativity flow when you must solve problems and don’t let anything hold you back. Solving problems can be hard, but it stimulates personal growth in the process.
